Greenway Challenge Supports
Youth Leadership Academy
In line with our goal of promoting the vitality of the Blackstone River Valley, the Greenway Challenge presented a check for $1000 to the Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy on January 10, 2006. The Academy develops the leadership skills of 9th and 10th grade students from Blackstone Valley communities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and strengthens their connection to the Valley through community service.
The presentation was made at the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce economic outlook breakfast held at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, Massachusetts.
"The Academy students are tomorrows leaders, says program director, Mary Lou Anderson. They are committed to preserving the watershed. We are grateful for the support of the Greenway Challenge.
The full mission of the Greenway Challenge is to promote the recreational quality of life in the Blackstone Valley through support for clean water campaigns, projects to further develop access to waterways, projects to develop hiking and biking trails, wildlife projects, and environmental education.
